I spent time storyboarding a small publication that I have been working on called the "Anatomy Of The Storm" that is in relationship with a public sculpture being made in collaboration with Sidewalk Detroit, so I spent a lot of time doing some winter cloud gazing, hiking, and even made it up to Empire to see the ice volcanoes!
On top of my writing work I also spent time burnishing pottery made from Detroit soil for an ongoing midwest silk production body of work. Most of my days were filled with listening to 100.1 FM and wandering the streets of Elberta.
Maya Davis's artistic practice explores the interconnected concepts of care, preservation, and resilience through diverse media and processes. They examine care as both an intimate act and a collective responsibility, drawing parallels between human experiences and natural systems. Central to their work is an investigation of transformation and endurance, particularly through materials that embody cyclical patterns of damage and repair.
